Peppers DNA test

I natt kom ett mail med resultatet från Peppers DNA test som jag skickade för ett par veckor sedan.

Jag lät test hur han ser på extension locuset - det som avgör om en häst blir svart eller rödbaserad. Genom att studera hans stamtavla hade jag sett att chansen var minst 50% för att han skulle ha ett anlag för röd färg. 

Resultatet? Han är Ee på extension locuset och kan därmed få både röd och svartbaserad avkomma. Personligen tycker jag att det är kul eftersom han då kan ge ännu flera färger hos avkomman. Med Bunny är det exemeplvis 25% chans att avkomman blir fux eller rödskimmel. Nu väntar jag bara på Emblas resultat.

Tonight came an email with the results from Peppers DNA test that I sent for analysis a couple of weeks ago. I tested him for the extension locus - the one that decides weather the horse is red or black based. Studying his pedigree I knew it was at least a 50% chanse that he would have the possibility to sire red based foals.

The result? He is Ee at the extension locus and can have both red and black based offspring. I like that as it gives an even larger possibility of colors for my foals. With Bunny for example there is a 25% chance that the offspring becomes chestnut or red roan. Now I only wait for Emblas results.
