Utveckling av företag

Åren går och jag märker att Rocky Mountain som ras har blivit ett mera känt begrepp. Jag får fler och fler frågor om rasen av intresserade människor. Jättekul! På sistone har det kommit ovanligt många förfrågningar från folk som vill köpa vuxna hästar. Då blir det svårt - jag får hänvisa till Europa och jag förstår att det tar emot för för många att åka dit (eller till USA). Kanske inte så konstigt att jag ännu inte hört om någon förutom Sylvia som importerat Rocky.

"Egentligen" borde jag nog därför ha ett antal vuxna, ridna, hästar till salu kontinuerligt. Men då skulle jag både behöva mer plats än vad jag har idag och inte minst mera tid. Och skulle jag lägga mera tid skulle jag behöva jobba mindre på mitt andra jobb och skulle då bli väldigt beroende av att sälja hästar till bra pris ofta. Jag tror inte Sveriges marknad är redo för det ännu...

Så, vad kan vara görligt? En idé skulle kunna vara att ta in ett par dräktiga ston till. De skulle i alla fall inte kräva lika mycket tid som hästar som säljs i full ridkondition.  En annons med tre intressanta individer dök upp från en säljare jag litar på gjorde mig riktigt sugen på den idén. Dessutom skulle jag kunna sälja sto eller föl nästa år istället för att som planen är nu, vänta till 2017-2018. Nuvarande ston vill jag inte sälja; de är så underbara och jag gillar dem så mycket mer än jag någonsin trodde att jag skulle göra. Det är lättare att sälja när man bestämt sig för det redan från början. Men så ska man ha pengar för att genomföra det hela. Så nu funderar jag på hur det skulle kunna lösas. Vi får se hur det går.  Men det är väll som alltid med hästföretag - massor av probelm som behöver lösas. Tur att jag gillar det!

Developing the business

The years are passing by and the Rocky Mountain horses gets more known I Sweden even if there still is a long way to go until it is more commonly known. I get more and more questions about the breed and more and more people that want to buy one. I like that! Problem is most people want an adult, broke horse. Then I have to try to guide them to horses for sale in Europe (or US). But I understand that it is much harder than buying a horse in Sweden. It might not be strange that I don't know about anyone except Sylvia that actually have imported horses.

Therefor I guess that I "should" have a couple of grown up, broke horses for sale all the time. But then I would need a bigger place and more time. To get more time I would need to work less at my other work and then I would depend on selling horses regularly with a good profit. I don't think the Swedish market is ready for that yet...

So, what can I do? One idea would be to bring a few new broodmares along, at least they wouldn't need as much time as riding horses. I saw an add recently with mares that would fit perfectly. Guess if I got tempted! That would also make mare or foal available for sale next year and not 2017. I guess that to to this the best thing would be to sell the mares I have now but I really like them. Plus, I find it so much easier to sell when you have decided that from the beginning. So now I only need to find the money to support my plans. Let's see how that goes. I guess that is as usual with horse business - problems that needs to be solved. Luckily I like that!
